An eccentric East Village DJ was arrested after proudly admitting on Instagram that he punched out his neighbor’s window — where a dramatically back-lit Confederate flag has been riling residents for more than a week.
Darren Keen, 34, told The Post Saturday that he had to jump onto his neighbor’s East 8th street roof from his own adjacent roof to reach down to the offending window Friday night.
“I climbed down the fire escape, took off my shirt, wrapped it around my hand and punched out his f—-ing window,” said Keen, an Omaha, Neb. resident who moved to the East Village three years ago.
Cops happened to be in front of the building at the time. Hearing the glass breaking on the sixth floor, “They shined their spotlights on me. I yelled down, ‘F—- you, NYPD!’
They followed him by his “trail of blood,” he said.
But not before he took to Instagram.
“So yeah, basically the police are looking for me. I gotta go!” Keen said in his pre-arrest video waving his bloody fingers at the camera.
“I won’t let them blame the wrong person,” he added. “F—- this racist sh–.”
In a subsequent post, he said that cops were knocking at his door, and that he planned to “blow a massive weed rip in their face” when he answered his door — though he admitted to The Post that he spared them.
Keen said the flag infuriated him because it was in clear view of area school children.
“The anger I felt because of the flag caused me to do this crazy thing. I can’t imagine how angry it made a disadvantaged person feel.
Asked if he’d do it again, he said, “I wouldn’t necessarily, but I don’ t regret sh–.”
